    7:00 am - 9:30 am

For our March meeting, we will be providing a tour of the Nucor Steel Mill in West Seattle in place of our normal meeting.

This is a fascinating steel mill and the only one of its kind in Washington.  The Mill has had many owners including Bethlehem Steel, Birmingham Steel and now Nucor.  The mill site has been around for more than 100 years where they make bar to include rebar, flat bar and angle iron.  The process includes the melting of scrap metal which is poured through a caster that produces 20’X6″X6″ billets.  The billets are then cooled in a storage yard until they are later reheated and sent through the rolling mill where they are converted into a finished product.

Please join us if you can make it.

Important information:

All attendees will need to arrive at the guard shack no later than 6:50AM.  Appropriate attire includes work clothing, steel toe boots, preferably with metatarsal protection, a hard hat and safety glasses.  Nucor will provide hearing protection and fire retardant jackets.  This will NOT be a breakfast meeting, so please eat before you come.
