PUD #1 Skagit County is seeking a Safety/Risk Coordinator. This position is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of safety, risk management and emergency preparation for the District, and will report to the General Manager.
The position will develop effective safety programs, injury prevention initiatives, coordinate and perform safety training, conduct safety and risk investigations, and assure compliance with Federal, State and District regulations, policies and procedures. The position is key to providing safety leadership and accountability throughout the organization.
Duties will include: evaluating and drafting procedures and policies; making recommendations on initiatives and best practices; developing department goals and objectives; promoting/facilitating best work practices; conducting safety/risk audits at work sites and facilities; acting as primary risk contact; overseeing accident investigations; reviewing contractor work plans, annual reporting, L&I claims, and managing the drug testing, hearing conservation, and ergonomics programs.
In addition, incumbent will: update the ERP, PSM, and RMP for the Water Treatment Plant; coordinate with local agencies; coordinate drills; and other related safety, risk and emergency response tasks.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Broad safety knowledge and 3-5 years experience in safety/risk management or coordination is required.
BA in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is preferred.
Equivalent combination of education & experience may substitute.
Priority consideration given to candidates who possess a CSP certification.
Preferred candidate will be experienced in the area of construction and detecting unsafe working conditions with equipment, trenching, confined space, and other.
Excellent communication skills & ability to write reports and recommendations.
Experience in industrial safety, facility and worksite inspections.
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations including DOSH, WACs and OSHA.
Ability to train, influence and motivate others, and exemplary customer service.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
