2017 Pre PDC Tour – Puget Sound Energy Wild Horse Wind Farm

  •  May 4, 2017
     1:45 pm - 3:30 pm

Please join us on Thursday, May 4th prior to the PDC for a tour of the Puget Sound Energy Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility.  We will meet at the facility at 1:45 and the tour will begin at 2:00.  The tour should be over between 3-3:30 so that we can get back in time for the SHM Alumni Dinner.

Please review the following information before your visit.

  1. Group Size: In order to minimize wait time on the tours and because of limited seating capacity, please try to limit group size to 48. Larger parties can be accommodated, but will need to be split into several groups and plan for a longer stay.
  2. Arrival: Please check in 10 minutes prior to your tour and presentation time.
  3. Facilities: We have bathroom facilities and a kitchen (by reservation) but you will need to bring your own food and water bottles. We provide water in a pitcher, but it helps us reduce trash if you bring your own container.
  4. Liability Forms: Must be signed prior to participating in the tour. Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent signature on the form.
  5. Clothing: Closed-toed sturdy shoes are required for the tour. Coats, gloves, and hats are advised for tours in the spring and fall.
  6. Safety: Hard hats and safety glasses are required and will be provided for site visitors. Young children will not be able to participate in the tour if the safety gear does not fit properly, or if they are unwilling to wear it for the duration of the tour. A site safety review will be provided prior to the tour. Various hazards exist at an operating wind facility, such as inclement weather, primitive trail conditions, high voltage electricity, wildlife, overhead hazards, magnets, and steep terrain.
  7. Pacemakers: Visitors with pacemakers are prohibited from entering the turbines because magnets are present.
  8. Site Closures: Turbine tours may be canceled due to high winds, snow, ice, heavy rains, or at the tour guide’s discrepancy. A modified indoor/outdoor tour will be offered as an alternative to the turbine tour. Feel free to call and inquire about site conditions and closures or check our webcam at: http://www.wunderground.com/webcams/WildHorseWind/1/show.html
